GUEST SPEAKER: Anna Domitrovic -  moved to Arizona in 1975 with a B.S. in geology in hand. She was hired by the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in 1977, retired in 2005, volunteered as ES Curator Emerita, and was back on the payroll in 2016 as a part time contract employee. Anna began her affiliation with TGMS in 1978, held various offices and continues to serve on committees in the Society and on the Show Committee. In her semi-retirement, she stays involved in earth sciences, geology and mining organizations. Love of minerals and historical mines and mining and travel keeps her busy.

LECTURE TITLE“Genesis of a Limestone Cave and associated Minerals."  Ever wonder where the Desert Museum's caves came from? Follow along with Anna as she takes you through the concept, construction and final outcome of a project that was 5 years in the making and after 40 years, still remains the largest walk-through artificial cave anywhere in the world. From then to now, the caves continue to make visitors comment, "How fortunate that the Desert Museum had these caves here when the Museum got started." As a special treat, Anna will show a select group of mineral specimens from the Desert Museum's permanent mineral collection.

Refreshments served.
