GUEST SPEAKER: Gary Carter -- Graduate of Idaho School of Mines; mineral collector since 1972; museum and historical society work in Idaho, Arizona and California; author of articles for The Mineralogical Record; and for the past seven years researching, writing and speaking on the Vulture Mine.
LECTURE TITLE: "The Vulture Mine - A Rebirth" -- In 1908, the (2nd) Vulture Mining Company took over the mining operation and, from then until 1916 were highly successful and profitable in relocating the lost Vulture Lode. During that period, Waldo Twitchell was employed as assayer. Twitchell took over 100 Kodak photos, with accompanying text, of the personnel and mining operation. This may be one of the best first-hand, personal accounts of a mining operation from that era. The talk will focus on Twitchell’s photos and commentary.
