LECTURE: "The Wonderful World of Arizona Calcites" - Unlike quartz crystals, near surface calcite crystals are quickly affected by meteoric waters percolating through the ground. As a result the best crystals come from some of the deeper mines, like the Magma Mine at Superior, the Old Dick mine at Bagdad and the mines of Bisbee, along with the open pit mines at Ajo and Ray.
